Entries for the 2010 MJ Awards have closed. But in a turn up for the books, the public protection of the year award has seen unprecedented interest, with the highest number of entries across all judging categories.
The award, now in its fifth year, presents a challenge for the judges who will need to whittle the list of 53 council projects down to just ten entries, before a final winner can be found.
The projects range from workplace health and safety, consumer protection matters including food safety and standards, to the wider regulatory services agenda, including environmental protection.
The winners will be announced at a black tie dinner at the Hilton in London’s Park Lane on 24 June 2010.
LACORS Executive Director, Derek Allen, said “The standard at last year’s awards was very high, so I look forward to seeing the entries for 2010’s MJ Public Protection of the year award.
“LACORS and our co-sponsors the HSE are really pleased at the record numbers of submissions this year for our category and this clearly shows how much good work is taking place in council's public protection services up and down the country.”
