Defra has issued advice on protecting the welfare of animals in severe weather. The advice highlights the important role that councils, together with the RSPCA and Animal Health, play in relation to farmed animal welfare.

The note includes brief advice for farmers, markets, transporters and pet owners, and contact details for accessing further advice and support.
